How you benefit from Membership

Whenever a local development is proposed, or some decision is mooted by authority, which you think will adversely affect you or your neighbours, the Dulwich Society will investigate your concern and advise how you may obtain satisfaction.

With over a thousand members, the Society raises a powerful voice with local councils, and with the Dulwich Estate. We believe that the Scheme of Management operated by the Estate should be applied positively by the Managers in accord with its declared purpose of "enabling them to preserve the amenities of the Estate for the common benefit." While the Estate Trustees continue to be the Managers, it is all the more important that we should be a forum through which the residents' views are expressed, and through which the Managers can be held accountable.

To keep you informed of what is going on in Dulwich, we publish a quarterly Newsletter which is distributed free to all members. Talks, walks and tours, led by experts on all manners of topics of interest to Dulwich people - private gardens, rare trees, historic buildings and sites, rare archives, social gatherings and more - are arranged for you by the Society.

The Dulwich Society is a registered non-profit making charity and supports a number of like-minded organisations, functions and fetes, both inside and outside Dulwich borders, for the good of the community as a whole.

Most of our activities are organised through our sub-committees on: Traffic and Transport; Planning and Architecture; Local History; Gardens; Wildlife, and Trees.
